Chris Spanton

QI Coach - Psychological Services

Chris Spanton is a High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (HI CBT).

My role at ELFT is Senior High Intensity Therapist – Groups & Digital Lead. I am an accredited Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR) and CBT Therapist and my role involves leading on our group and digital provision within Newham Talking Therapies, offering management and supervision to staff along with delivering psychotherapy for our residents.

I chose to get involved with QI coaching because I enjoy working with methodologies and improving services that impact our residents. QI has taught me how to approach project/problem with an inquisitive mind and how important it is to co-design with our service users.

A QI Coach role involves:

  • Coaching QI teams within directorates, meeting with the team regularly
  • Deeper knowledge of improvement methods and tools

Their responsibilities are:

  • Help engage people and teams in QI
  • Support project teams to develop ideas and strategy, using QI tools, and advise on how to complete project documentation
  • Support project teams in using QI methodology, including PDSA cycles and data over time
  • Provide monthly update on team progress to sponsor
  • Teach and explain use of QI tools and methods
  • Attend supervision with QI lead
