A BMJ Award recognises and celebrates the inspirational work done by medical staff across medical teams in the UK.
This was the 8th year of the Awards; with over 300 entries from around the UK to 16 categories covering both primary and secondary care.
The QI programme at ELFT won the Education Category Award!
Members of the QI Programme presented the ISIA Training to the judging panel and then participated in a Q&A session to further explain the variety of training that the QI programme provides to staff and service users across the trust.
Dr Amar Shah, Associate Medical Director for QI commented, “…training is a big part of the work, but it’s only one part. The second is about engaging people in the work and celebrating their work, the third is trying to redesign all of our organisation to be improvement focussed and making sure we’re driven by our improvement goals, and the fourth is supporting projects across the organisation. We have 160 of them at the moment. That probably involves about 1000 people using the method every week to tackle something we haven’t been able to tackle before”.
Judges comments “East London NHS Foundation Trust have made outstanding achievements in education and have taken quality improvement to a new level in the UK.”
