Quality Improvement (QI) is integral to our way of working at ELFT, helping us identify and grapple with the complex issues that we face. Measurement for improvement is a key part of QI and for over a decade we’ve been strengthening our use of statistical process control (SPC) charts in all our reporting, particularly in our board reports.

Over the two half days, we will be covering:

  • An overview of ELFT’s quality management system (with a focus around quality control)
  • High level overview of the science behind SPC charts
  • The different types of charts that exist and the benefits each one brings
  • How to be confident in recalculating limits on an SPC chart
  • What do you do when you see special cause, where to look next?
  • How to create an SPC dashboard that’s not merely a collection of SPC charts!
  • How SPC can be used for all areas of work (clinical and non-clinical)
  • How we develop the trust board report (alongside the commentary and interactions that go with it)

Pre-requisite

‘Shifting the Limits’ is an advanced workshop delivered across two half days, which will help you move to a new level of using and adopting measurement for improvement at an organisational level. As such, we will only be providing a high-level overview of SPC charts as we would expect those attending to have basic knowledge.

Registration

Please note that the workshops are free for ELFT staff, service users and carers. Delegates from external organisations will need to pay a fee online via Eventbrite via credit or debit card, unfortunately invoices cannot be provided. Please also note attendance will be capped at 30 people.

The two half day workshops will be taking place virtually in November 2022 across one week:

  • Day one – 22nd November 2022 (9.00am to 1.00pm)
  • Day two – 30th November 2022 (9.30am to 12.30pm)

There will also be opportunities to ask questions.

If you’d like to attend, please complete the form below.

If you have any queries, please reach out to elft.qi@nhs.net and we’ll be happy to help.
