Morrison Ward’s Daily Improvements during COVID-19

The wards at the John Howard Centre, in our Forensics Service, are making sure to share good practice with each other during the COVID-19 crisis. For example, they’re all planning ahead in partnership with service users to find out what meaningful activities people would want if they were to be isolated. They’re hearing about skills and interests they never knew our service users had.

The pandemic has brought the community on Morrison Ward closer together. They’ve had discussions about hygiene and how to boost their immune systems, which has got them improving their personal care, making daily smoothies and even reducing smoking. Staff have gained new skills in taking temperatures; one of those improvements that will be sustained well after the current crisis.

The team has also established new ways for people to communicate with their loved ones, like using Skype. In this time of physical distancing, Morrison ward are socially as connected as ever.
