Leading across the health and care system
In this King’s Fund briefing, the authors identify five factors that facilitate successful system leadership. “The American surgeon and writer Atul Gawande has argued that we are living in the ‘century of the system’ (Gawande 2014), where individuals and organisations cannot solve the problems facing today’s society on their own. Instead, he proposed that we should design new ways in which individuals can work together in teams and across systems to make the best use of collective skills and knowledge.”
