Clinical psychologists present QI projects at the Service Related Research Project Conference

The Quality Improvement Service Related Research Project (QI SRRP) Annual Conference took place on Wednesday 28th August.

Cohort 4 of the programme is composed of trainees from UEL, UCL, Royal Holloway and Hertfordshire Doctorate in Clinical Psychology postgraduate courses working in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Bedfordshire & Luton.

Dr Erasmo Tacconelli, Consultant Clinical Psychologist from Newham Secondary Care Psychological Services said: “Trainee clinical psychologists in Secondary Care Adult Mental Health placements have been involved in a variety of QI Projects aiming to develop psychological services. SRRPs were focussed on diverse topics such as understanding referral flow and need in services, increasing access for BAME Service Users, evaluating new psychological interventions, collecting Service User and staff feedback”.

James Innes, Associate Director of the QI team at ELFT said “Even today,  few people studying to become a healthcare professional learn about how to improve the systems that they’ll eventually work in.  That’s why the SRRP is so refreshing.  It allows trainees from an early stage of their training to get involved and lead QI work at ELFT whilst learning key aspects of improvement methodology.  These are sought after skills that will be super useful for the trainees in their future professional roles.  It also has massive benefits for ELFT, as the trainee’s support adds a massive boost to QI projects in the organisation”

The conference was the culmination of another year of hard work by trainees and their placement supervisors and QI Project Leads. It was an opportunity for trainees to celebrate their achievements and to present their service research work.
