Alex Tindall
Alex Tindall is Head of Performance (Primary Care Psychological Therapies).
My role at ELFT is to I help the IAPT services to monitor their KPIs and various other aspects of performance:
– producing regular reports for managers and commissioners
– responding to requests for data
– being a point of support on national standards, KPIs and our system, IAPTus
– supporting negotiation of annual investment
– monitoring sub-contractors’ performance
Before starting my current role I had worked for nearly 10 years as a bid-writer and bid-manager working on tenders for various contracts (in the NHS, construction, facilities management and welfare-to-work). I have a degree in Economic and Social Policy and another in Classics!
I chose to get involved with QI coaching because I think QI coaching fits well with my job role as I’m familiar with extracting and interpreting data from our performance system and can help teams to work out where there may be opportunities for improvement as well as ways to measure improvement. Quality is an important part of performance so I think the two roles are mutually supportive.
A QI Coach role involves:
- Coaching QI teams within directorates, meeting with the team regularly
- Deeper knowledge of improvement methods and tools
Their responsibilities are:
- Help engage people and teams in QI
- Support project teams to develop ideas and strategy, using QI tools, and advise on how to complete project documentation
- Support project teams in using QI methodology, including PDSA cycles and data over time
- Provide monthly update on team progress to sponsor
- Teach and explain use of QI tools and methods
- Attend supervision with QI lead
