Heather Heseltine
Heather is a Quality and Performance Lead and a QI Coach.
Heather works closely with Bedfordshire and Luton CAMHS to support with collecting and sharing data at all levels. she work with teams to help with RiO recording to ensure we can evidence all the hard work they do with young people.Heather has worked in CAMHS since 2013 when she started as a Medical Secretary and has since had a few different roles within the service as Admin Lead and Operations Manager for Bedfordshire CAMHS before her current role within the Performance Team.
Heather chose to become a QI coach to support teams to improve things from the ground up. She is really keen for staff to know that they can make changes if they see that things are not working as well as they could be and that the QI methodology can be a great way to structure a project. Since becoming a QI coach she has learnt that it can be helpful to talk through potential issues that may then become projects and that it is okay if they don’t! Sharing ideas and techniques can be just as helpful for a team.
A QI Coach role involves:
- Coaching QI teams within directorates, meeting with the team regularly
- Deeper knowledge of improvement methods and tools
Their responsibilities are:
- Help engage people and teams in QI
- Support project teams to develop ideas and strategy, using QI tools, and advise on how to complete project documentation
- Support project teams in using QI methodology, including PDSA cycles and data over time
- Provide monthly update on team progress to sponsor
- Teach and explain use of QI tools and methods
- Attend supervision with QI lead
