Tim Hunter
Tim is the CNIO for ELFT. This is a trust wide role with a specialist focus on community health and primary care (physical health).
What is a chief nursing information officer? A CNIO is a senior nurse in an organisation who plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between digital professionals, clinicians and the trust executive, ensuring new and existing technologies are optimised to meet the needs of nurses and other clinicians in clinical practice and that is required to facilitate high quality patient care.
Tim joined ELFT as deputy lead nurse for community health services in Newham in January 2023. Tim is a adult physical health registered nurse. He trained to become an advanced clinical practitioner in 2017 withing an emergency room and is an independent nurse prescriber. Tim has a broad clinical background including NHS acute secondary care (emergency and intensive care), specialist tertiary neurology, community health and primary care. He has also worked in the private sector in private hospitals, medical assistance/flight nursing and an innovative digital-first general practice.
Tim took on his new role as CNIO in May 2024. This is the first time the trust has had a CNIO. Tim is excited to shape this new role, combining his passion for clinical nursing practice, patient safety and service development with his knowledge and experience in digitally enabled health care.
