Improvement Leaders’ Programme (ILP)

incorporating IHI’s Improvement Science in Action

Wave 3

Our Improvement Leaders Programme is now fully accredited by the CPD Standards Office! On completion of this five day course, you will be accredited with certified 25 hours towards continuous professional development (CPD).

Improvement is not easy to achieve in complex systems like healthcare. We want to equip our staff with the tools to make improvement a reality.

Over a 5 month period of practical learning the ILP teaches QI project teams to refine their aims, use Driver Diagrams to understand their system and prioritise change ideas, measure data for improvement, test changes using Plan Do Study Act (PDSA), and introduces many other concepts and tools that teams can use throughout the project’s lifecycle.

What do we cover?

  • Overview of QI
  • QI tools
  • Measurement and analysing data
  • Driver diagrams
  • PDSA (Plan Do Study Act)
  • Reliability
  • Sustainability, implementing and spreading results
  • Sharing learning from projects at the learning sets

ILP trained staff, service users and carers

ELFT have now trained over 1000 staff, service users and carers in the ILP, equipping them with core skills to lead improvement to all our services.
