Triple Aim

Health care is about improving the wellbeing of people at scale. At ELFT we have been supporting teams to apply improvement methods across whole populations using the Triple Aim framework
The Triple Aim is a framework developed by The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) to optimise health system performance through the simultaneous pursuit of three dimensions:

  • Improve population health
  • Improve quality of care
  • Improve value for the system

It highlights the importance of deliberately working on all three arms of the triple together to optimise outcomes for the system.

At ELFT, we have developed a sequence that teams can use to apply QI in pursuit of the triple aim for populations. You can learn more about the of each of the 6 stages and the tools we used by clicking on the sections below. These tools were developed alongside the IHI.
